Senator Ted Cruz Confronted by Brett Kavanaugh Protesters at a Washington, D.C Restaurant

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A group of protesters at a Washington, D.C. restaurant confronted Senator Ted Cruz over Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. A YouTube video captured Cruz & his wife unseating themselves and leaving a restaurant, amid protesters in the couple’s personal space chanting “we believe survivors” over and over.

One of the protesters said she was a sexual assault survivor and asked Cruz a direct question about his relationship with Kavanaugh. “There are now three people who have come forward and who have said that Brett Kavanaugh has attacked them. I know that you are close friends with him. Did you talk to him about that?”  the woman asked. One man can be seen making an obscene finger gesture, as Cruz passes in front of him.

The video shows approximately ten protesters walking in close proximity to Cruz and his wife as they attempt to exit the restaurant. Cruz’s only direct communication with the protesters was “Let my wife through” and “God Bless You.” Other spectators are seen videotaping the incident. Minor cheers erupted from the protesters after Cruz and his wife were ushered out of the restaurant by an employee.

Cruz’s opponent for Senate, Beto O’ Rourke tweeted about the incident saying “The Cruz family should be treated with respect.”

The first debate between Cruz and O’Rourke’s was in Dallas on Friday..  The second of three debates is set for September 30th at the University of Houston.
