What Looks Like a Vintage Fort Worth Police Cruiser is Spotted in Southern England

UPDATED: 10:40AM

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – The mystery surrounding what looks like a vintage Fort Worth police cruiser in southern England … is a mystery no more.

Since photos were posted on social media by a man in England Tuesday, the department has learned that it’s common in the U.K. to replicate American-style police cars.

The 90s model Chevy Caprice has a department logo and signature wording on it, much like the cars that win in commission in the last 90s and early 2000s.

Fort Worth Police Sgt. Chris Britt says the department is not bothered by the car at all, he tells us, “As the say, imitation is the best form of flattery.”

He says the replicas are used in parades and things like that.

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A vintage Fort Worth Police car — or a mighty darn good looking replica — has turned up on a beach … in Southern England!

The department posted to social media images of the vehicle sent by a man in the resort town of Bournemouth.

Police say every detail of the late model Chevy Caprice is there, from the Longhorn logo to the slogan, ‘Where the West begins,’ not to mention, the car also has the number 495 on it.

WFAA-TV reports, that the photos were taken by Ben Poynter who said he was surprised to find an American police car on the streets across the pond.

The station also caught up with the officer who may have driven the car in the late 90s.

Rob Moore says he was floored when he saw it.

“Car 495 was my car so when I saw the picture it completely blew me away, he said. Moore added, “If that’s not the car that I drove, somebody knew about that car.”

The man who sent the photos says he’s seen the car at two separate locations over the past few months.

The big question remains, “Is it real?”
