Sen. Moody to Newsmax: Celebrate Kirk’s Life on Constitution Day

Wednesday is Constitution Day and Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., told Newsmax that Americans should celebrate the United States’ founding document alongside the life of slain conservative leader Charlie Kirk, who championed the rights contained within it.

“The [Constitution is the] document that laid out the framework of our government, that guaranteed our rights, the right of free speech, to all of our citizens,” Moody said on “National Report.” “It is so important that we remember that he led a life that fiercely advocated for that and remember that this country was built on protecting those rights. And so today, I hope all Americans will not just honor the Constitution, our founding document, the highest law of our land, but celebrate the life of Charlie Kirk and the fact that he took on the fire and the energy and the dedication and the determination to fight [for] what made this country what it is today. And that is a country that protects the rights of its people and to speak out and speak our mind, and a civil discourse of ideas. That was his life, and I hope everyone can remember that on today of all days.”

The Florida Republican also commended law enforcement officials and the prosecutor working Kirk’s case, saying “the speed and efficiency” of charging Kirk’s alleged gunman brings a sense of solace to those mourning his assassination.
