(WBAP/KLIF) – AUSTIN, TX – The Capitol grounds were closed as protesters gathered outside the House Chamber in support of Representative Nicole Collier, who is staying on the House floor in protest. The lawmaker from Fort Worth refused to sign paperwork that would allow her to leave only with the police escort, which is a stipulation that is imposed on Democrats who left Texas to break quorum. Despite their protests, Republicans are ready to put redistricting to a vote. The redrawn congressional map favoring Republicans is expected to pass off the House floor today.
