ALVORD (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Some residents in the Wise County city of Alvord are under a boil water notice.
The city said the order was issued Sunday and stems from a water leak from a fire hydrant on Lynch Drive that brought down pressure for nearby residents.
Officials stressed the notice is not about contamination just low pressure.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality issued the notice to make sure any harmful bacteria is destroyed.
Residents are asked to boil the water for about two minutes before using it to brush their teeth, wash their hands and faces or using it to drink or cook.
All of the schools in Alvord ISD are under the notice and officials are asking parents to send their kids to school with bottled water.
The district will hand out free bottled water to students who can’t bring their own.
The city will notify the public once the notice has been lifted.
