Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – Changes to how ERCOT manages the grid post-Winter Storm Uri could add $1.5 billion to customer bills this year. That, from Carrie Bivens, VP at Potomac Economics, the state appointed market monitor overseeing ERCOT.
Biven’s told a state House panel that. “It isnt’ clear if the higher costs are justified.” She said, that new “pricing outcomes at times grow disconnected from the actual operating conditions.”
Texans who have variable electricity rates are already seeing higher costs. others with fixed rate plans will see rates jump when renewals come up.
