Small Town Official Dies In Gunbattle With Police

Sullivan (WBAP/KLIF) – A city commissioner in the south Texas town of Sullivan has been killed in a gun battle with police. Police say Gabriel Salinas opened fire on police who had responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home. Police found Salinas’ body inside the house after the shooting stopped. Salinas’ girlfriend is hospitalized in critical condition with what appear to be stabbing or slashing cuts from a large knife or machete. Her 4 year old son had to be treated for head injuries.
