(WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Democrats launched an initiative Thursday to unseat Senator John Cornyn in 2020.
The Texas Democratic Party is coordinating what it calls a “multi-million-dollar war room effort” to defeat Senator Cornyn. Party officials said Thursday they are seizing an opportunity to flip Texas.
“The Texas Democratic Party will do what’s never been done before and build a full war room,” said Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Manny Garcia. “The size and scope of which have never been undertaken in Texas history. This War Room will allow us to capitalize on our successes in 2018, and unseat Cornyn in November 2020.”
Garcia said the 2020 election will be the fight of a lifetime, and that Democrats are gearing up for what will be a hard-fought race to win the White House, take out John Cornyn, send more Texas Democrats to Congress, and elect hundreds of local Democrats across the state.
Senator Cornyn promised a vigorous campaign, no matter who the democratic candidate may be.
“I’ll just say regardless of who prevails, we’ll be ready,” Cornyn said.
Texas Democrats said the war room will feature top-notch campaign staff and an aggressive campaign strategy aimed to expose Cornyn’s record.
