Dallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – You’ve heard of antibiotic resistant bacterial, well now there’s “super lice”…lice resistant to over the counter treatments.
Doctor Shahan Chowdhury with Diamond Physicians in Frisco says a two-year study found the lice are almost everywhere…including Texas.
“They found that 42 or these 48 states showed that there were lice that were completely resistant to the typical over-the-counter topical treatment.”
There are prescription treatments that kill the resistant lice, but Chowdhury says it’s best just to not get lice at all. That means tell you kids not to share hats, combs and brushes, and check them every month or so.
She also reminds you if your kids get lice, chances are the whole family will get them. If that happens, make sure everyone gets checked out by a doctor, and you wash all linens and sheets in hot water.
