(WBAP/KLIF) – Seven Hawaiian Falls’ water parks have been fined for violations of child labor laws.
The Department of Labor announced Monday Hawaiian Falls paid nearly $86-thousand in fines.
Domingo Y. Castillo with the Labor Department says some violations involved minors working during hours that were not allowed for 14 and 15-year-olds. Also, it involved what minors were operating.
“Minors were operating prohibited equipment such as gas-power pressure washers, open-flame grills, automatic rotisseries and pizza ovens,” Castillo said.
Hawaiian Falls water parks in Garland, Mansfield, Roanoke, Pflugerville, The Colony, Waco and White Settlement were involved.
The total fine was $85,904.
Castillo says all working minors and employers should be educated on child labor laws. You can find more information at www.youthrules.dol.gov.
