A Garland man is facing a felony charge for allegedly firing a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident last month in Duncanville.
Kevin Gray, 42, was arrested in Dallas on September 3 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Duncanville Police Department announced on Wednesday.
Police responded on August 11 to the area of South Cockrell Hill Road and East Highway 67 after receiving a report of shots fired during a road rage dispute.
The caller told officers that a man driving a Tesla fired a handgun at him while both vehicles were stopped at an intersection. Police said the gunfire also put other motorists and people in the area at risk.
No one was injured.
Duncanville detectives began investigating the shooting and used witness statements, investigative leads and Automated License Plate Readers to identify the suspected driver. Investigators identified Gray as the person allegedly driving the Tesla and firing the handgun.
On September 3, patrol officers and detectives used ALPR technology to locate Gray in Dallas. He was taken into custody without incident. Gray was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting.
Duncanville police credited patrol officers and criminal investigations personnel with working together from the initial response through the investigation and arrest.
The department said it remains committed to investigating incidents involving dangerous driving behavior and holding suspects accountable. An allegation is not evidence of guilt, and Gray is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
