Americans will gather at gravesites and memorials across the country on September 12 to remember more than 66 million babies killed in abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in 1973.
The 14th annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children will bring pro-life advocates together for prayer services honoring the lives lost to abortion. Organizers also hope to support women, families, and others who have experienced the consequences of abortion.
The national directory identifies 60 known gravesites containing the remains of aborted children, along with hundreds of memorials dedicated to unborn babies throughout the United States.
“Mourn with us for the precious children killed by abortion,” Brian Gibson, CEO of Pro-Life Action Ministries, said in a statement published by LifeNews.
“These ceremonies are all the innocent, aborted unborn child will ever receive in this world,” Gibson added. “By participating, you are helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters.”
Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and the Pro-Life Action League launched the National Day of Remembrance in 2013. Organizers conducted more than 100 memorial services during the inaugural observance. Thousands of people participated at 232 locations during the 2025 observance.
The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, returning authority over abortion laws to the states. Organizers contend that the ruling did not end the need to remember the millions of children killed during the nearly five decades that Roe remained in effect.
