More than 670 employers offering 68,000 job openings participated Thursday in the fifth North Texas Job Fair hosted by U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) at Globe Life Field, bringing job seekers, elected officials and candidates from across the region to Arlington.
Registration opened June 1 with 300 businesses representing about 10,000 jobs, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. By Tuesday, the totals had climbed to more than 550 employers and 30,000 opportunities. Van Duyne’s office said Thursday that more than 670 businesses were looking to fill 68,000 positions.
The fair began in 2021 as an effort to reconnect Texans with employers following COVID shutdowns and has grown into one of the nation’s largest workforce and hiring events, according to My North Texas Jobs. The event moved to Globe Life Field in 2024, and last year’s fair drew more than 35,000 attendees.
Acting labor secretary calls fair ‘the Super Bowl’
Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling praised Van Duyne’s leadership during a press conference, calling the event “the Super Bowl” of job fairs.
“We’ve heard 670 employers at this fair, the largest in the country,” Sonderling said. “These opportunities here are really going to change lives.”
Sonderling thanked Van Duyne on behalf of President Donald Trump and said the event demonstrated a commitment to American workers.
Local officials and candidates highlight opportunity
Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector Rick Barnes (R) told The Dallas Express the job fair provides opportunities for employers and residents looking to enter the workforce or advance their careers.
“One of the fundamental needs of most people is the ability to pay their bills,” Barnes said. “This provides an opportunity for people to find maybe that first job, maybe a better job.”
Barnes said the Tarrant County Tax Office participated in the fair and was hiring employees on the spot.
Texas House District 94 Republican nominee Cheryl Bean, a homebuilder and small business owner, said the fair showed how job opportunities can support families and veterans.
“This is how single moms can support their family. It’s how veterans can continue to serve,” Bean told The Dallas Express. “We don’t do it by handouts. We do it by opportunities.”
Texas House District 93 Republican nominee Alan Blaylock said the turnout reflected the strength of the region’s economy.
“Seeing over 600 employers and 68,000 jobs under one roof at Globe Life Field tells you everything you need to know about the North Texas economy,” Blaylock told The Dallas Express. “Opportunity exists here.”
Van Duyne’s office said more than 100,000 North Texans had been connected with regional employment opportunities through the previous four fairs.
