Two Dallas girls classified as critical missing persons were found safe Wednesday, hours after they left a South Dallas location together, the Dallas Police Department told FOX 4.
A’mree Hines, 5, and Briasia Landrum, 13, left on foot from a location in the 1400 block of Belleview Street around 5 a.m. on August 5. The department’s initial alert said the girls were last seen together and might need assistance.
Police locate both girls
The girls later obtained transportation to the Mountain View area, police said. Following public advisories and media coverage, a Good Samaritan returned A’mree to the Belleview Street address, where officers met the child and the person who brought her back.
Patrol officers found Briasia in the Mountain View area at about 11:50 a.m. The recovery came less than seven hours after the girls were last seen.
Dallas Fire-Rescue evaluated both girls before they were taken to the Dallas Advocacy Center on Samuel Boulevard. Authorities reported no major injuries.
The update did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding their departure.
Critical missing classification
A’mree is 5 years old, while Briasia is 13. Dallas police previously told The Dallas Express that the critical missing classification applies when a person may face immediate danger because of age, a proven physical or mental health disability, or evidence that the person could be the victim of a crime.
The department said children younger than 10 would normally receive the designation. Older juveniles may also be classified as critical missing based on information investigators uncover.
At the time of their disappearance, A’mree wore a white shirt with yellow circles, light blue jeans and sandals. Briasia wore a dark blue short shirt and blue and pink Playboy pajama shorts. Both girls carried small pink glittery backpacks, according to the original alert.
Police documented the case under number 114099-2026.
