(WBAP/KLIF) — The Denton City Council voted to hold a Special Election on Tuesday, November 3rd, to fill a vacant city council seat. The Special Election comes after the official resignation of District 1 Council Member Jordan Villarreal, who stepped down for health reasons.
Villarreal won a special election in May and was sworn in on May 12th, however made the decision to step down just two months later. Special Election Early Voting will run October 19th through the 30th, with the general election on November 3rd.
Candidates may file their applications with the City Secretary’s Office until 5pm on Thursday, August 20th.
