
Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics transported five teenagers, some with serious injuries, to area hospitals after a white Honda stolen in an armed carjacking crashed into a traffic signal pole during a Dallas police pursuit Tuesday night.
The incident began at 10:37 p.m. in the 4500 block of Live Oak Street, where a group of armed juveniles allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint and took his Honda, according to Dallas police information reported by Fox 4 KDFW.
Police track stolen Honda to Pleasant Grove
Shortly before 11 p.m., a Flock automated license plate reader flagged the Honda at an apartment complex in the 9400 block of Bruton Road. Dallas officers later spotted the sedan traveling west on Bruton Road near South Buckner Boulevard.
Officers attempted a traffic stop, but police said the driver accelerated and fled. The pursuit ended at 11:02 p.m. at Bruton Road and Second Avenue, where the driver lost control and struck a steel support pole for a traffic signal.
A Dallas Police active-calls log recorded a police response in the 5400 block of Bruton Road at 11:02 p.m., matching the reported crash time.
Five teens taken to hospitals
Officers found five teenagers inside the damaged Honda. Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics transported all five to area hospitals. Police said some suffered serious injuries, but all were expected to survive.
Investigators also recovered multiple handguns from inside the vehicle. The initial report did not specify how many firearms officers found or attribute any weapon to a particular teenager.
Detectives with the Dallas Police Department’s robbery and vehicular crimes units continue to investigate alongside crime scene investigators and patrol officers. Police said charges against the juveniles were pending.
