(WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has decided not to renew an agreement with the North Texas Tollway Authority that dedicates state troopers to patrol NTTA roadways after the current deal expires in August. NTTA manages over 150 miles of roads in north texas, including major toll ways like the Dallas North Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike. In a letter to NTTA CEO James Hofmann, DPS Lieutenant Colonel Freeman Martin cited the need for flexibility in deploying personnel and resources in response to changing threats as the reason for not renewing the agreement. The decision was based on a comprehensive assessment of statewide operational requirements.
