AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Texas Education Agency says it has worked on 162 complaints of inappropriate teacher-student relationships during the school year, which ended last week.
It marks five years of increases and may reflect a new record, but it’s difficult to tell because the agency records complaints based on its fiscal year, not the school year.
Why the numbers are growing is unclear, but many social service workers believe widespread use of social media is allowing teachers and students more personal contact than in the past.
