DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Demonstrators representing several local grassroots organizations gathered outside of Senator John Cornyn’s Dallas office Wednesday to protest the Senate Health Care Bill. Cornyn was among the bill’s authors.
The groups said the demonstration was planned to encourage the Senator to reject the bill which would replace the Affordable Care Act. Protesters said they believe the bill will result in deep cuts to medicaid and reduction of essential health benefits and highers costs for health care.
“Millions of people will be be cut off from accessible health care,” said Amy Shoe. “And that will result in lots of healthcare problems and possibly fatalities for Americans all over the country and Texans.”
According to the group ‘Indivisible TX-24’ over 1 millions Texans have coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
“Now is the ti
me for every person who cares about women’s health and access to affordable quality care to speak out and join this fight,” said Summer Lollie, community organizer for Planned Parenthood Texas Votes. “We must get louder than ever so our elected officials finally start listening to us.”
