Fort Worth officials are expanding a coordinated enforcement program targeting problem properties across the city after an initial effort uncovered more than 1,450 code and safety violations at apartment buildings, motels and retail locations.
The city’s Nuisance Enforcement Task (NET) Force program began its next phase October 1, targeting seven additional properties, including three motels, an apartment complex, a shopping center and two residential properties.
Fort Worth announced the expansion on October 20, following a pilot that brought police, code compliance officers, firefighters and other city departments together to address properties with repeated violations and public safety concerns.
The city identified structural deterioration, compromised electrical systems, unsecured buildings, illegal dumping and other hazardous conditions among the concerns at several locations. Some properties also have documented criminal activity.
Officials did not attribute every listed violation or safety concern to an individual property.
Seven Properties Face Additional Scrutiny
Fort Worth identified the following locations for the next phase of enforcement:
-
Central Motel, 5800 E. Lancaster Ave.
-
Ranch Motel, 3620 N. Main St.
-
Cowboy Inn, 3107 N. Main St.
-
Shopping center, 3249 N. Beach St.
-
Mirabel Apartments, 6301 Woodway Dr.
-
Residential property, 2929 Mt. Vernon Ave.
-
Residential property, 3300 E. Rosedale St.
Fort Worth officials say they intend to work with property owners to correct violations and pursue additional enforcement when necessary.
The initiative combines resources from multiple city departments rather than requiring each agency to address building, health, fire and public safety concerns separately.
Pilot Produced Measurable Results
Fort Worth launched NET Force in January 2026 with inspections at Sandy Oaks Apartments, Eco Motel and two Southside convenience store locations.
The initial inspection period uncovered more than 1,450 violations across 38 inspections, according to the city’s June report.
Sandy Oaks Apartments accounted for more than 850 violations. By June, the city reported that the property had achieved full code compliance following cooperation from its owners.
The city’s October update confirmed that Sandy Oaks remains compliant, although Fort Worth police continue addressing criminal activity at the property.
Southside Food Market closed following repeated inspections and enforcement measures. Rocky’s II has made progress but still faces minor code violations and a litter case.
At Eco Motel, city officials reported substantial progress toward repairing the lodging structures. Inspectors will continue monitoring the location.
Enforcement Raises Questions About Long-Term Compliance
The expanded effort will provide another measure of whether coordinated enforcement produces lasting improvements at properties with persistent problems.
The city maintains a public NET Force dashboard tracking violations, reinspections, crime reports and police calls for service at targeted properties.
The dashboard allows residents to examine the city’s progress and monitor enforcement outcomes over time.
For Fort Worth, the next measure of success will be whether the seven additional properties reach compliance and maintain it after intensive inspections conclude.
The city’s October announcement did not provide a property-by-property completion schedule or the total taxpayer cost of expanding NET Force. Those figures would give residents additional information about the program’s effectiveness and the resources required to sustain it.
