The Denton County Republican Party says it has placed six billboards across the county to boost Republican turnout ahead of the November 3 election.
The billboards carry a simple message: “PROTECT OUR FUTURE VOTE REPUBLICAN.”
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) urged Denton County Republicans to stay politically engaged ahead of November during the party’s July 2 Faith, Family & Freedom event in Justin.
Billboards promote turnout
The party has encouraged residents to photograph the signs when they encounter them and send in their pictures.
“If you see it while you’re out and about, snap a picture and send it our way! We’d love to see where you spotted it and share your photos,” the Denton County GOP said in a Facebook post.
A close statewide race
The campaign comes as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and state Rep. James Talarico (D-District 50) compete for a U.S. Senate seat.
A Fox News poll released October 1 found Talarico at 51% and Paxton at 49% among likely Texas voters. The two-point difference falls within the poll’s margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.
The survey, conducted September 24-28, included 881 likely voters. Those results measure statewide preferences, rather than support within Denton County.
Polymarket’s Texas Senate winner market displayed an implied winning probability of about 67% for Talarico and 34% for Paxton when checked October 8. Those figures reflect traders’ expectations of the election outcome, rather than projected vote shares, and change as trading continues.
Creative director explains parody
Separately, the party shared a meme featuring an AI-generated version of a billboard alongside a fabricated social media response attributed to President Donald Trump. The image did not depict an authentic Trump post.
Aaron Rocha, creative director for the Denton County Republican Party, told The Dallas Express that he created the image as a parody after seeing similar memes online.
“On Saturday morning I joined a trend everybody was posting: memes of President Trump ‘reacting’ to local restaurants, food, and billboards. My wife and I laughed at them because they were so obviously not real. Then she had the great idea of making one for the Denton GOP, so I did. It was meant to be fun, and it was clearly a parody, not a real quote from the President. Our chairman, Melinda Preston, trusts me to make creative calls like this. Since Melinda took the reins, the Denton County GOP has been moving like never before. We’re focused on representing the people and building a team that’s moving in the same direction. Not me, not you, but us. This is a new Republican Party, a new face of tradition.”
Early voting for the November 3 election runs from October 19 through October 30, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s voter information website.
