DENTON, Texas — President Donald Trump will be in North Texas Thursday to highlight American manufacturing, Representative Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) announced.
Several weeks after the GOP midterm convention took over portions of Dallas, President Trump will return to North Texas. He will visit Peterbilt Motors’ factory in Denton, the Representative announced in a press release.
While in town, President Trump will highlight “the resurgence of American manufacturing,” the release states.
The Peterbilt factory added more than 1,000 jobs in Denton, and its parent company, Paccar, has created more than 2,000 jobs across the United States, the release states. The company’s Peterbilt and Kenworth brands move 30% of the nation’s truck freight.
“President Trump is delivering on his promise to put American workers and American manufacturing first,” said Rep. Jackson. “Right here in Texas, we’re seeing what happens when we cut red tape, unleash American industry, and stand up for our workers.
Trump has regularly emphasized his plans to bolster American manufacturing, including imposing tariffs and trade restrictions.
However, persistent inflation and ever-rising gas prices pose a political risk to Republicans heading into the midterms.
