Award-winning journalist Lara Logan will headline a complimentary screening
of Remember the Alamo: Don’t Sharia My Texas on Wednesday, September 9, the opening day of the Republican National Committee’s first-ever midterm convention.
The screening, panel discussion and brunch will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the W Dallas Living Room Bar, 2440 Victory Park Lane. The hotel sits directly across the street from Victory Plaza and just steps from American Airlines Center, where RNC programming begins at 3 p.m.
Admission is complimentary, and attendees can RSVP through Eventbrite.
Opening day of RNC midterm convention
The RNC midterm convention will begin at 3 p.m. September 9, one hour after the screening event ends, and continue through Thursday, September 10.
The two-day gathering at American Airlines Center will feature President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Republican leaders and delegates.
Documentary returns to Dallas
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the documentary received its digital release July 4 after premiering June 28 at Dallas’ Angelika Film Center. Burgard directed the film, and Tim Lowry produced it.
The documentary frames the Alamo as a symbol of resistance and presents the filmmakers’ argument that Sharia-related influence threatens constitutional liberty. Through interviews and historical commentary, it addresses religious freedom, public safety, women’s rights and constitutional protections.
Featured voices include Logan, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former U.S. Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) and former FBI special agent John Guandolo.
During a recent interview, Burgard spoke with Logan about why his campaign against political Islam became personal. Their conversation covered Sharia, Texas, religious freedom and Logan’s distinction between political forces operating in the name of Islam and Muslims who accept the Constitution as the supreme law of the land.
Logan, Zubiate-Bennett and Burgard join panel
Logan will join the panel discussion following the screening. The veteran war correspondent has worked in journalism for more than 35 years. She spent 16 years with CBS News, where she served as chief foreign affairs correspondent and reported for 60 Minutes.
She now hosts Going Rogue with Lara Logan.
Sarah Zubiate-Bennett, co-founder of The Dallas Express and host of the Let’s Talk Local podcast, will also participate in the panel.
Burgard, an award-winning filmmaker whose credits include Capitol Punishment and The War on Truth, will also join the panel. Before becoming a filmmaker, he danced with the Ruth Page Chicago Ballet on scholarship and later became a bull rider.
