American Airlines announced Friday that it is expanding its partnership with Dallas-based Pecan Lodge, making the restaurant’s smoked brisket sandwich and barbecue platter available as First Class meal options on more domestic flights departing from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
The expanded offering will begin September 9, 2026, on eligible domestic flights that include meal service and depart from DFW, American’s largest hub.
Customers will be able to preorder the meals through aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app.
Details of the Expansion
American Airlines said the move follows the successful debut of Pecan Lodge’s barbecue platter and smoked brisket sandwich on select routes. The airline described customer feedback on the initial offering as “overwhelmingly positive.”
Under the expanded partnership, First Class passengers on qualifying flights leaving DFW can select Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the barbecue platter for dinner when those options are available for preorder.
The meats are seasoned and slow-smoked at Pecan Lodge in Dallas using the restaurant’s traditional techniques before being packaged and prepared by American’s catering partners for in-flight service, according to the airline’s announcement.
Rhonda Crawford, American Airlines’ senior vice president of customer experience design and strategy stated that “Pecan Lodge’s bold Texas flavors translate exceptionally well at altitude, making it a great choice for customers looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience in the air.”
Background on the Partnership
Pecan Lodge, located in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood, is known for Central Texas-style barbecue and has received national recognition. The restaurant’s partnership with American initially focused on select DFW-to-New York flights before the broader domestic expansion announced Friday.
Eligible customers can check availability and preorder the Pecan Lodge options through American’s website or app closer to their travel dates beginning with the September 9 start date.
