Two major retailers are moving forward with North Texas projects, with construction filings showing the two projects represent more than $23 million in planned work, based on estimated project costs listed in permitting records.
The projects come as communities across the Dallas-Fort Worth region continue to see new residential and commercial development. The filings were submitted through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Target Planning New Fort Worth Location
Target is planning an approximately $22 million store at 5900 Retail Way in Fort Worth, according to a TDLR construction filing. The project is identified as the Chisholm Trail Target and is expected to become the retailer’s sixth location in Fort Worth.
The filing lists an estimated completion date in August 2026. Construction timelines listed in TDLR filings are preliminary and may change.
The project is part of Target’s continued presence in the North Texas market. The company previously announced plans for additional stores in communities including Forney, Little Elm, and Dallas.
Target’s corporate website also maintains a list of upcoming store locations nationwide, including planned openings and project details.
TJ Maxx Coming to Grand Prairie
TJ Maxx is also preparing for a new North Texas location, with a planned $1.3 million renovation project at 3166 State Highway 161, Suite 120, in Grand Prairie, according to TDLR records.
The project involves converting an existing approximately 25,000-square-foot space into a TJ Maxx store. Construction is expected to begin in October 2026 and conclude in March 2027, according to the filing.
The Grand Prairie location would mark the city’s first TJ Maxx store, according to reporting on the project. The retailer currently operates multiple locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Retail Growth Continues Across DFW
The new projects add to a broader wave of retail investment throughout North Texas.
