A 62-year-old Dallas man is being held without bond after authorities said he picked up a 14-year-old runaway, supplied her with methamphetamine, and sexually assaulted her over three days at his home.
David Michael Klepak was arrested Sunday evening following a traffic stop and charged with sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony.
An arrest warrant affidavit from the Dallas Police Department states the girl ran away from home on July 29. Klepak allegedly pulled up in a luxury vehicle and offered her a ride. Once she was inside, he offered her methamphetamine, which she smoked using a glass pipe, before taking her to his residence on Winton Street, police said.
The assault occurred between July 29 and July 31, according to the affidavit. The girl told investigators she was “homeless” for a day before an acquaintance located her on August 2. She disclosed the assault to that acquaintance.
During a forensic interview at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, the teenager gave details that led officers to Klepak. She described four luxury vehicles at his home, identifying them as a Bentley, a Lexus and two BMWs. She also told police the residence was a duplex that was “extremely messy, with items everywhere.”
Officers assigned to the department’s Child Exploitation Unit spotted Klepak driving a 2015 white luxury vehicle near his home Sunday night. After observing a traffic violation, they conducted a stop at 4200 Camden Ave. and took him into custody.
An inventory search of the Bentley turned up approximately 17 glass pipes containing residue, police said.
Klepak was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters, where he was read his Miranda rights and, according to the affidavit, confessed to sexually assaulting the teenager. He was then booked on the second-degree felony charge.
He is being held at the Lew Sterrett jail on a $300,000 bond with electronic monitoring.
