A new episode of Forgotten History asks whether the growth of Muslim political power, religiously centered communities and Islamist movements poses a threat to American constitutional government.
Written and hosted by military historian Colin D. Heaton, The Muslim Political Takeover Threatening America tracks the rise of Muslim candidates and officeholders from Congress to statehouses and city halls. Heaton argues that those electoral gains should be examined alongside disputes over assimilation, Sharia, election safeguards and organizations accused of ties to extremist networks.
From EPIC City to CAIR
The 24-minute episode turns to North Texas as one of its main case studies. Heaton revisits the proposed EPIC City development and asks whether Muslim-centered communities could become parallel societies governed by religious authority rather than American law.
The debate is already playing out locally. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, a July open house at a Plano mosque presented two sharply different views of Sharia. A Muslim outreach leader described it as personal religious guidance practiced through charity and family duties, while an Iran-born Christian warned about the consequences when religious law gains political power.
Heaton also examines controversies involving the Council on American-Islamic Relations, honor killings and terrorist attacks carried out in the name of radical Islam. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott designated CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations under state authority in 2025. CAIR rejected the designation as defamatory and denied supporting terrorism.
The episode presents a broader challenge: Can the United States protect religious liberty while stopping any movement that seeks to place religious authority above the Constitution?
