General Mills is recalling nearly 736,000 frozen Pillsbury bread rolls after discovering they may contain glass fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The voluntary recall affects two varieties of frozen dough products distributed to commercial food service customers in 19 states, including Texas.
According to the FDA, the recall covers approximately 735,840 rolls, including:
- Pillsbury Bread Rolls Hard Roll Dough: 3,080 cases containing 180 rolls each, totaling 554,400 rolls.
- Pillsbury Bread Rolls Kaiser Roll Dough: 1,260 cases containing 144 rolls each, totaling 181,440 rolls.
The products were recalled because of the potential presence of foreign material, specifically glass.
The recall was initiated by General Mills on June 19 and was classified by the FDA as a Class II recall on July 13. A Class II recall means use of or exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or the probability of serious health consequences is considered remote.
The affected products were distributed in Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
According to General Mills, the frozen dough products are intended primarily for commercial food service operations, where they are thawed, proofed, and baked before serving. They are not commonly sold directly to retail consumers.
