A Fort Worth man has been arrested and charged with capital murder after investigators say he fatally shot his wife and mother-in-law inside an Azle home Thursday morning.
Officers with the Azle Police Department responded to a reported suspicious situation around 9:30 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 200 block of Stewart Bend Court, according to police.
Due to the circumstances, officers entered the home to conduct a welfare check, where they found two adult women — identified as a mother and daughter — dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators from the Azle Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division worked alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to identify a suspect.
Police said evidence collected at the scene, along with information obtained through FLOCK license plate camera technology, led investigators to identify 64-year-old Joseph Morris Gordon, of Fort Worth, as the suspect.
The Texas Rangers took Gordon into custody. He is being held at the Parker County Jail while being processed on two counts of capital murder, authorities said.
Police identified the victims only as Gordon’s wife and mother-in-law. Their names have not been released.
The investigation remains active, and authorities said no additional information is being released at this time.
