Dallas Fire-Rescue transported four people to a hospital Wednesday after a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train and a box truck collided in downtown Dallas, overturning the truck and disrupting rail service near Pearl/Arts District Station.
Dallas Fire-Rescue received a report of the crash at about 12:20 p.m. in the 2200 block of Bryan Street, the department told WFAA. Emergency crews initially believed the overturned truck had trapped occupants, but responders removed them without an extensive rescue.
At least two of the four people transported to the hospital had been aboard the train, DFR said. The department had not released their conditions Wednesday afternoon.
During the disruption, DART warned riders to expect delays and placed shuttle buses between Victory and Baylor stations and between EBJ Union and Cityplace/Uptown stations, serving all stations in between.
“All DART Rail passengers should expect delays due to an incident at Pearl/Arts District Station,” DART said in a 1:46 p.m. alert.
DART’s Red, Blue, Green and Orange rail lines all pass through downtown Dallas, according to the agency.
DART later said the incident had cleared, canceled the shuttle buses and began resuming regularly scheduled rail service. The agency apologized to riders for the disruption.
FOX 4 helicopter images showed the box truck on its side directly in front of the train near the station. The cause of the collision had not been publicly released as of Wednesday afternoon.
