Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer LITEON will establish its North American headquarters and an advanced manufacturing facility in McKinney, bringing a planned $919 million investment and creating more than 600 jobs over the life of the project, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Monday.
The project’s initial phase includes a $307 million capital investment and the creation of 500 jobs. To support the expansion, the state awarded LITEON a $3.5 million grant through the Texas Enterprise Fund, along with a $100,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus.
AI Manufacturing Expansion
The new facility will focus on designing and manufacturing artificial intelligence power and infrastructure-related solutions, further expanding Texas’ growing advanced manufacturing and technology sectors.
“Texas is where the world invests and innovates,” Abbott said in a statement. “We congratulate LITEON on choosing Texas as home for their new North American headquarters for its advanced manufacturing facility. This major expansion will create hundreds of good-paying jobs in McKinney and further strengthen Texas’ leadership in advanced electronics manufacturing, research, and development.”
LITEON Chairman Tom Soong described the expansion as a milestone for the company.
“LITEON’s expansion in Texas represents a historic milestone for our company,” Soong said. “McKinney is a community that shares our values of hard work, innovation, and opportunity, and we are honored to be part of its future.”
He credited support from the state and the city with helping make the investment possible.
“Together, we are investing in Texas communities, and we look forward to growing alongside this great state as we continue advancing next-generation technologies,” Soong said.
Local Leaders Welcome Investment
State and local officials said the project reinforces McKinney’s position as a destination for advanced manufacturing and technology companies.
State Sen. Angela Paxton (R-McKinney) called the investment “a major win” for both Collin County and Texas, saying it will create hundreds of high-quality jobs while strengthening the state’s leadership in advanced technology and reshored manufacturing.
State Rep. Jeff Leach (R-McKinney) said LITEON’s decision reflects confidence in the region’s workforce and business climate.
“McKinney is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic communities in Texas, and today’s announcement is further proof that companies around the world recognize what makes it so special,” Leach said.
McKinney Mayor Bill Cox said the city offers the workforce, infrastructure and quality of life global companies need to succeed.
“We’re honored that a company helping shape the future of technology has chosen to invest in McKinney,” Cox said. “This investment creates new opportunities for our residents, strengthens our local economy, and reinforces McKinney’s position as a premier destination for business.”
Performance-Based Incentives
The Governor’s Office administers the Texas Enterprise Fund, a performance-based incentive program that supports business relocation and expansion projects when Texas sites compete with out-of-state locations. The state awards grants to projects expected to create new, well-paying jobs and attract significant capital investment.
The Governor’s Office said LITEON plans to invest $919 million in its McKinney expansion and create more than 600 jobs over the life of the project.
