The Dallas Mavericks capped a whirlwind week by unveiling a major new corporate partnership that will adorn their jerseys and finalizing a complex six-team trade that sends veteran forward Khris Middleton packing while adding frontcourt depth.
Chase Becomes Mavericks’ Jersey Patch Partner
As part of a new multi-year agreement, JPMorganChase will become the team’s official banking partner and jersey patch sponsor. The deal is the bank’s first jersey patch partnership with an NBA team, and beginning this season, the Chase logo will appear on the upper left chest of all four Mavericks uniforms, including jerseys sold to fans through Mavs Shops.
Chase branding will also appear throughout American Airlines Center, and cardholders will even have access to a dedicated Chase entrance on the arena’s east side. Customers will receive a range of gameday perks, including discounts on food and merch, special ticket offers, and VIP experiences at Mavericks games and other arena events.
Mavericks CEO Rick Welts called the partnership a natural fit. “Partnering with JPMorganChase marks an important milestone for the future of the Dallas Mavericks…Chase is at the forefront of superior client service, operational excellence and a winning culture – all principles we share.”
“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Chase in Dallas…The Mavericks are one of the most recognizable franchises in sports, and we’re proud to partner with a team that brings people together across North Texas,” added Peter Muriungi, who leads Chase’s South Region market team and serves as CEO of the bank’s Digital Assets and Blockchain Solutions division.
That connection to Chase is clear in Dallas – JPMorganChase employs roughly 17,500 people locally and operates close to 200 branches across Dallas-Fort Worth alone.
Mavericks Finalize Role in Six-Team Trade Involving Khris Middleton
On the basketball operations side, the Mavericks have also finalized their piece of a six-team trade that has been developing over the offseason, according to another bombshell post from NBA Analyst Shams Charania on Tuesday evening.
As part of the deal, Dallas is sending forward Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards via sign-and-trade. The full trade ties together six franchises in total – the Mavericks, Wizards, LA Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies.
Among the components already known to be part of the trade are the Pistons acquiring John Collins, Gary Harris and Taurean Prince, while the Grizzlies add Isaiah Stewart.
The Mavericks, for their part, are also bringing in center Santi Aldama, and the Bucks are set to acquire guard Caris LeVert.
By moving on from Middleton, the Mavs shed a big chunk of salary tied to an aging veteran while adding the more cost-effective, versatile Aldama, giving Dallas both financial flexibility and a clearer path to reshape its frontcourt in the future.
