(WBAP/KLIF) — SMU has been selected as an official Venue Specific Training Site for the FIFA World Cup 2026, with Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium serving as a training site for participating teams during the tournament.
The selection highlights SMU’s global engagement and connections across various fields, positioning the University at the center of one of the world’s most significant international sporting events.
Dallas’ role as a global hub is emphasized, with the city hosting nine World Cup 2026 matches, including a semifinal match at Dallas Stadium, otherwise known as AT&T Stadium.
The announcement reflects SMU’s recent upgrades to Washburne Stadium.
