CARROLLTON (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Carrollton police are warning North Texans after officers arrested an HIV-positive man in connection to three sexual assaults.

The department fears there could be more victims in DFW, Houston and Atlanta.

25-year-old Carlton Tambaoga’s arrest stems from an incident on February 11. Officers were contacted by a teenage sexual assault survivor who received treatment at a local hospital.

They arrested Tambaoga 24 hours after the victim came forward.

According to court documents, The 19-year-old victim claims Tambaoga plied her and a friend with alcohol at his apartment in the 1800 block of East Frankford Road, before he allegedly sexually assaulted them.

Carrollton police said the initial investigation led Special Victims Unit detectives to identify a second sexual assault survivor of Tambaoga’s and he was charged with another count of sexual assault on February 13.

Investigators said based on preliminary evidence, Tambaoga is tied to four additional sexual assaults. The department is working to reach out to his additional potential victims.

Tambaoga is being held in the Denton County Jail on a total of $620,000 in bonds.

CPD said ” it recognizes that some sexual assault survivors are understandably hesitant to contact police or do not want to file a police report. However, the department urges all survivors to contact a local sexual assault program that can provide confidential assistance such as counseling service, advocacy services, medical referrals, legal services and a variety of important support.”

Survivors can request one of these service advocates to be present during the time of reporting a local police department.
