Convicted Sex Offender Who Escaped Brazoria County Prison Captured

UPDATE: (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Less than 24 hours after escaping from a south Texas prison, The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced Robert Yancy Junior was captured on Monday at 8:05 a.m. in Matagorda County.

The Office of Inspector General arrested two others believed to be involved in his escape.

Authorities said Yancy Junior’s mother, Leonor Priestle, a former correctional officer, helped him.

TDCJ said Priestle went to the Clemens Unit in Brazoria for visitation wearing a black sweater on Sunday. They said at some point, Yancy Jr. put on his mother’s sweater and walked out with her.

Priestle is charged with Permit/Facilitate an Escape.

Authorities said she was driving the white Nissan Versa Yancy Jr. was spotted in.

Another man believed to be Priestle’s boyfriend, Russell Williams, is charged with Criminal Intent to Escape.

Yancy Junior is serving a life sentence for continuous abuse of a child in Victoria County.

BRAZORIA (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is searching for a man who escaped from a south Texas prison on Sunday.

39-year-old Robert Yancy Junior was last seen wearing a black beanie and sweater at the Clemens unit in Brazoria, about 54 miles south of Houston.

He was driving a 2021 white Nissan Versa with Texas license plate number DNR9145.

Yancy was serving life without parole for continuous sexual abuse of a child out of Victoria County.

KPRC TV in Houston reports deputies with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said they located the car Yancy was last seen in and two others have been arrested in connection with his disappearance.

Authorities do not believe he’s still in Brazoria County.

Anyone who sees him is encouraged not to approach him and contact local law enforcement.
