DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – First responders in North Texas continue to warn about dangers of the excessive heat being felt this week.

The United States Postal Service confirmed on Wednesday that one of its postal workers died while working a route in the Lakewood area of Dallas. The cause of death is pending.

“The Postal Service is deeply saddened by the loss of life suffered yesterday involving a Lakewood Post Office Letter Carrier,” USPS said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time.”

Heat index values have brought dangerous conditions to North Texas this week. Temperatures are expected to dip for a few days, before rising again this weekend.
