Sen. Cruz says Trump Indictment “Backfired Badly” for Prosecutors

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Senator Ted Cruz doesn’t believe the indictment of former President Donald Trump in New York is going as planned for prosecutors.

Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges connected to hush payments he allegedly made to porn star Stormy Daniels.

While speaking with reporters after a Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce event, Senator Cruz said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s decision to go after Former President Trump backfired badly.

“The fact that Bragg is willing to weaponize the DA’s Office and to indictment Trump out of partisan hatred I think has already had the effect of rallying Republicans behind him,” said Senator Cruz. “Trump’s numbers have surged as a result.”

Senator Cruz said that whether Americans like Donald Trump, or can’t stand Donald Trump, they should be concerned that prosecutors are trying to prevent voters from electing someone because the prosecutor is of a different political party.

Senator Cruz said he expects the case to eventually be dismissed.

The topic of the chamber event was jobs and the Texas economy. There was also a Q&A session with Cruz.
