HOOD COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) -An inmate in the Hood County Jail was found dead in his cell Saturday.
58-year-old Jeffrey McLaughlin was jailed in connection with the January 1, 2023 death of his wife, former assistant Hood County prosecutor Venisa Maria McLaughlin.
According to the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, staff requested paramedics for an “unknown medical emergency” around 7:01 a.m.
McLaughlin was then rushed to Lake Granbury Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances of his death have not yet been revealed.
Texas Rangers are investigating.
McLaughlin had been jailed on a murder charge and his bond was set at $250,000.
