(WBAP/KLIF) — During the 2022 Mid-term Election, one issue on the Arlington city ballot is how long elected officials can remain in office. For the first time in history, residents voted to impose term limits on Arlington City leadership in 2018. Now there’s a push to slightly change that decision.

Local attorney Larry Fowler says he supports that idea, but feels the term limit duration should change. Fowler leads a group of citizens pushing to extend the 6-year term limit to 9 years. The 2018 ballot question asked for either ‘no term limits’ or ‘three, two-year terms’. According to Fowler, that’s just not enough time to facilitate change or consistently get things done, as a lot of the elected officials time would center around getting re-elected.
Arlington residents can cast a ballot on the measure during early voting through November 4th or on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th.
