(WBAP/KLIF News) Balch Springs – 26 homes in Balch Springs were damaged by a fast moving grass fire that may have been sparked by a mower hitting a metal object causing sparks.
It was near the intersection of I-20 and South Beltline Road in the Spring Ridge neighborhood.
The fire started just before 4pm. Crews arrived quickly but gusting winds pushed the fire into a neighborhood. Residents used garden hoses to soak yards as a fire barrier. They also sprayed fences and their homes.
No injuries were reported however a number of families were displaced.
