Electricity Demand Will Break Records

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – The operator of Texas’ power grid is expecting record-breaking electricity demand this week. With temperatures expected to hit 100 degrees or more each day through the end of the week, ERCOT expects total daily demand to rise above 75,000 megawatts. Such daily peaks would all be above the previous daily record of 74,820 megawatts set in August, 2019. ERCOT also says it has sufficient generation capacity to meet the forecasted demand, so it doesn’t expect any brownouts, or calls for Texans to reduce electricity use.
