FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Lawyers for former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean are asking that the start of his trial be delayed again.
Aaron Dean is charged with murder in the 2019 killing of Atatiana Jefferson. Body cam video showed Dean fire a shot into the window of the home where Atatiana was staying, ultimately killing her. Dean, a Fort Worth Police Officer at the time, was responding to an open door call.
Jury selection in Dean’s trial is slated for May 9, but Dena’s attorneys are asking the trial be delayed. It had already been pushed from January to May. The lawyers say Dean’s lead attorney, Jim Lane, is sick and not able to prepare.
It’s not clear when the Judge will make a decision on whether or not to further delay the trial.
