Mixed Reaction to Biden’s Vaccine Mandate: Businesses Support; Others Label Biden a ‘Dictator’

Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – There has been no shortage of opinions on President Biden’s sweeping vaccine mandate to businesses with more than 100 workers, mandating immunizations or offer weekly testing. The executive order applies to all government employees, employees of contractors who work with the federal government, healthcare workers and businesses.

The requirement for large companies to mandate vaccinations or weekly testing for employees will be enacted through a forthcoming rule from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration that carries penalties of $14,000 per violation, an administration official said.

Some businesses have reacted favorably to biden’s new vaccine mandates …

Home Depot responded in a joint statement praising the requirement that reads:

Business Roundtable welcomes the Biden administration’s continued vigilance in the fight against COVID. America’s business leaders know how critical vaccination and testing are in defeating the pandemic.

“Business leaders applaud the incoming Administration on developing a strong national plan to scale up vaccination and testing, to protect vulnerable populations from infection, to improve vaccine surveillance and to address health disparities. Business Roundtable welcomes especially the new Administration’s focus on additional support for small businesses and additional support to allow schools to safely reopen, and we share their concern about finding ways to help individuals and families who continue to struggle during this time.

“We look forward to working with the Administration and congressional leaders on a bipartisan package to defeat the virus and ensure a strong economic recovery.”

On the flip side, Rep. Van Duyne said in a statement:

“The decision by President Biden is the single biggest expansion of governmental power in history. By demanding the vaccination of workers across the federal government as well as all companies over 100 employees, President Biden is requiring 2/3 of the American workforce to turn over sensitive health care records. This is an abuse of the power of the presidency and unconscionable overreach that must not be allowed.” The statement further accuses Biden of using the issue to distract from rising gas and grocery store prices and “a botched Taliban withdrawal.”
