ALLEN (WBAP/KLIF) – Allen ISD is being sued in federal court over its mask policy.
A group of Allen ISD parents are behind the Federal right to life lawsuit.
“I hope that people understand that we are fighting for the most vulnerable among us,” said Therissa Grefsrud, who is one of the parents behind the suit.
The lawsuit argues that district’s optional mask policy puts students and staff at serious risk and is asking for a mask requirement. The district responded in a statement saying it strongly disagrees that leaving masks as an option violates constitutional rights.
Official AISD statement:
Due to the ongoing litigation, the school district cannot speak to the specifics regarding its response to the lawsuit at this time. The District, however, strongly disagrees that the students’ constitutional rights have been violated by leaving masks as an option for students and staff.
Allen ISD continues to work proactively and professionally with parents who have questions or concerns about COVID-related issues. The vast majority of these concerns have been resolved without the need for litigation.
