Dallas Firefighter Facing Covid Claim Theft Charges

WFAA/WBAP/KLIF – DALLAS – A Dallas Fire-Rescue employee was arrested Friday, after officials said he claimed he and his family tested positive for Covid-19 in order to get time off work. Court documents say 38 year old Fire Station 7 employee William Carter is charged with felony theft.

An arrest warrant says Carter requested Covid-19 leave in March, because his spouse tested positive. During the pandemic, City of Dallas firefighters under these circumstances are given paid time off in lieu of using sick days.  Carter claimed his daughter tested positive a week later, and then, himself.

Carter is reported to have failed in producing documents to prove the positive Covid findings, but received more than 12 thousand dollars in pay.
