City of Fort Worth Warns Residents about an App that is Posing to be Affiliated with the City.

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The City of Fort Worth is warning residents about an app called “One Simplicity” that is posing to be affiliated with the city.

It has about 50 different Texas cities on there.

“By the unauthorized use of the city’s logo, the Simplicity app gives residents the false impression that the information and services on the app are directly linked to the City of Fort Worth,” the city wrote in a release.

Michelle Gutt with the City of Fort Worth says the App also has the city’s news stories on there and an option to report problems.

“We have no idea where the information goes if someone submits personal information and the company has never reached out to the city to talk to us about the app or what they are trying to accomplish,” said Gutt. “We’ve asked them to not use our logo. Because they are using our logo and news story updates, it makes it look very official. We just want people to be very cautious because we don’t know anything about the company, don’t download the App,” she said.

To assure you are dealing directly with the City of Fort Worth, she encourages residents to either use the official website download the city’s a free app, “MyFW”. This app is monitored by the city and that provides easy access to information about Fort Worth or to request services such as pothole repairs, streetlight outages and more.
