DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- North Texans are assessing storm damage from Wednesday night’s storm. Chris Pilcic with State Farm says they’ve already seen an influx in customers who have been affected. “More than 1,000 claims have been filed already in DFW, specifically in North Fort Worth and Keller who were hit particularly hard in high concentrations,” said Pilcic.
Pilcic said it’s crucial to start the claim process immediately and make necessary repairs.
“Knowing that more rain is in the forecast, do what you can to prevent further damage. Buy tarp, board up windows, hire temporary work,” he said.
Pilcic said it’s important to take pictures before making repairs and document the work done. He also said to keep receipts of the work performed.
He said when hiring contractors, make sure you’re making an informed decision, getting multiple quotes and getting the offer in writing. He said don’t be tempted by door to door solicitations.
Lastly, as we are in severe weather season, Pilcic urges everyone to check their coverage and plan ahead for next time.
