Houston Area Gas Explosion Injures 7

Klein (AP) – Seven people have been injured in a natural gas explosion near Houston. Comcast workers reportedly struck a gas line while working in Klein on Friday. CenterPoint Energy crews that were brought in to fix the line struck a larger, 6 inch gas line that sparked the explosion. All seven of the injured are CenterPoint employees. One of them had to be flown to the nearest hospital. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office says nearby residents were evacuated from their homes. One house sustained damage. The fire from the explosion burned a power line and toppled a power pole.
