deliver the charge of incitement of insurrection as a result of the violent January 6, siege of the U.S. Capitol building by hundreds of supporters of Trump.

A number of people face federal charges for the incident for which many say that the went to the Capitol because Trump told them to come.

Meantime, Republican senators are easing off their criticism of the former president. Instead Republicans are presenting a tangle of legal arguments against the legitimacy of the trial and questioning whether Trump’s repeated demands to overturn the Joe Biden’s election really amounted to incitement.

The trial begins in two weeks.
