(WBAP/KLIF) — A man who refused to drop a knife as he approached officers in West Texas is dead. San Angelo police shot the man as a last resort.
38 year-old Adam Lee Mendez got into an altercation with police and refused to drop a knife. Officers used less lethal devices to stop the man, but to no avail. That’s when police were forced to shoot Mendez, who later died of his injuries at a local hospital.
Spokesman Josh Shultz says police were originally called to a home in the West Texas town on a domestic dispute involving a man punching a woman. The officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Texas Rangers.
